Ultrasonic sensor

is a sensor that measures the distance to an object by using sound waves. It emits a sound wave and waits for it to bounce back. The sensor measures the time it takes for the sound wave to bounce back and calculates the distance to the object based on the speed of sound.

Tip

Speed of sound is approximately 343 m/s (1235 km/h) at 20°C.
